Barista Job Description
The Barista’s responsibilities include educating customers, making recommendations based on their preferences and up-selling special items. To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate proficiency in vending, marketing, sales and customer service.
Responsibilities

Be punctual and in uniform

Greet and interact with both new and regular customers warmly and professionally

Give customers marketing materials and answer their questions regarding products and services

Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and dietary needs)

Prepare beverages following recipes

Setup buffet stations such as beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
-
Wear gloves when handling food
-
Receive, process payments (cash and credit cards) and give receipts
-
Maintain and improve appearance of the coffee bar to include but not limited to restocking and cleanliness

Replenish stock of cups, plates, flatware, napkins, plastic gloves and cleaning materials per checklist

Take inventory prior to setup and complete inventory checklist

Submit inventory checklist sheet along with equipment return

Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs. Call Shift Supervisor for any
unresolved issues.

Ensure caution signs are positioned appropriately at each event (Safety First!)

Comply with health, safety and food handling regulations
-
Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
-
Generate revenue by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products

Observe attendance

Take photos of coffee bar, buffet station and crowd if possible
-
Clean up - Thoroughly clean the area at the end of event to include sweeping and/or mopping
Skills and Qualification
-
Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress preferred but not required
-
Friendly, outgoing and dedicated to outstanding customer service

Hands-on experience with brewing equipment

Knowledge of sanitation and food handling regulations
-
Flexibility to work various shifts

Takes initiative

Detail oriented and passionate about product delivery

Basic math skills

Ability to gauge customers’ preferences

Excellent communication skills
-
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus

Must become ServSafe certified within 60 days of employment
Work Hours and Physical Demands

Typical Shift: 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Typical Hours: 3 to 4

Be able to lift at least 30 pounds
